Other Talks
ENTERTAIN INFORM INSPIRE
As well as polar talks, Sue also offers a selection of other presentations, in which she talks about her intrepid adventures in a light-hearted yet informative manner.
A Month in Petra
Imagine arriving in an airport with only your suitcase, a whip, and your mother; not speaking Arabic, not knowing who is to meet you and having only had two weeks in which to organise yourself. A few years ago, Sue, and her mother were invited by the Jordanian government to go to Petra in order to teach the local Bedouin how to carriage drive. The pollution down the Siq was getting progressively worse as four-wheel drive vehicles were increasingly being used to transport disabled and elderly tourists into Petra. The only solution would be to use pony carts, however no one knew how to drive. Join Sue and her mother as they spend a month in Petra, getting to know the locals, eating sheep’s heads and eyeballs and exploring the rose red city whilst teaching driving skills – an opportunity given to only a very few.
